Pasadena Convention Center Graphic Mural by Licensed Contractor
We are licensed painting contractor mural artists based in Pasadena, CA. This is a recent project for the Pasadena Convention Center that we designed and painted as part of a larger project with Visit Pasadena. The goal was the create a mural in a stairway landing for visitors to help with way finding. Because the overall convention center space was minimal and airy, we wanted to utilize the negative space to keep the flow of the wall color. We choose more muted tones to not be distracting and create a sense of calm.
For one of the images, we focused on the iconic Colorado Street Bridge. This is by far one of the most important landmarks for Pasadena. We chose a view that would resemble the grandeur of the bridge as you walked up the stairs. It gave a sense that you were actually walking under the bridge at looking up at it from below.
For the opposite wall, we chose to focus on the San Gabriel Mountains and some palm trees in the foreground. These mountains are the backdrop of our city and we wanted to incorporate some nature and more organic shapes into the space. The different murals would help visitors identify where they came from as the staircases looked very similar prior.
We worked with a team of local sign painters to help with this mural. Usually, our preferred medium is spray paint but we wanted to keep the fumes down for the interior installation and decided o go with brush for this project. The convention center and Visit Pasadena have been amazing partners and we hope to continue working with them for more projects in the future.
I am a licensed mural painter in Pasadena, CA and you can see the work I’ve created around the city. These days, there’s a lot of mural artists but not many focus on the longevity of the artwork which is our specialty. Most of the painting contractors aren’t artists so we provide a balance of both worlds for timeless pieces that will last for generations to come.
